Samoens, situated in the Alpes in Haute-Savoie, is a mountain village that relies directly on the 5th biggest ski area in France: Le Grand Massif. Winter sports snow activities in a countryside made for small chalets typically savoyard.The ski pistes of Samoens are situated in the Grand Massif ski area, characterised by the black pistes reserved for high level expert skiers. For the beginners, there is a sector that was completely refitted in 2003 reserved just for them. Samoens, is a ski in and ski out village resort thanks to the 8 place Samoëns, station village skis with the feet, thanks to the telpher carrier 8 places Grand Massif Express train which gives direct access to the pistes.
The Grand Massif has 265 km of tracks and 5 connected resorts (Morillon, Samoëns, Carroz, Sixt Fer à Cheval and Flaine), the ski area of the Grand Massif, is today, regarded as one of most beautiful of the large French ski areas. It was, for a long time, the training area of Antoine Dénériaz, native of Morillon and Downhill Olympic champion at the Turin Olympic games on February 12, 2006.
The Grand Massif benefits, from its geographical location, from an abundance of regular snow throughout the season, and the area is famous for the quality of its spring snow. It should be said that 80% of the slopes are north facing which allows for better snow conservation.
The Grand Massif is an exceptional place:
-La combe de Gers with its 800 m of uneven virgin snow. The slope is steep!
- The piste des cascades whichs creates a blue 14km carpet from the top of Flaine with Sixt Fer à Cheval
- The piste Marvel which offers a 5km route through the middle of a forest. The Grand Massif has theree Jamparks for freestyle.
