Serre Chevalier is a large valley open towards the south, between the Col du Lautaret and Briancon where its many villages and hamlets are, some more modern and some more traditional.

The resort of 13 villages is distributed over 4 areas: Briançon, Chantemerle, Villeneuve la Salle and Monetier les Bains at the gateway to the Ecrins National Park.
