Cheap ski hire Courchevel 1300 Le Praz
Don’t be fooled by the look on your bank managers face when you tell him you’ve booked a holiday to Courchevel, despite its reputation the vast majority of this famous ski retreat is entirely affordable. Courchevel is a complex of four distinct resort villages linked by lifts, pistes, roads, and a free bus service to navigate through them, it is only the last of these that earns Courchevel its bank busting infamy. Getting to Courchevel takes a little longer than many other resorts; the nearest airport is Geneva, just over 2 hours away by road, but the Eurostar does also offer a service to Moutiers once a week, and if money is no object then there’s always the airport right on the Courchevel slopes.
The lowest altitude resort in Courchevel, Le Praz (formerly Courchevel 1300) is, an old, rustic village at its heart. The lack of urbanisation has kept it as the most picturesque of the Courchevel villages, with narrow cobbled streets of chalets, punctuated by excellent restaurants and wine bars. Michelin starred Azimut is a small and unpretentious place to eat superb food, through La Table de Mon Grand-Père comes in at a closer second. Bistrot du Praz is perhaps the jewel in the crown though, reputed to be one of the best eateries in the entire Trois Vallées.
The slopes of Courchevel Le Praz tend to be far less busy than the more popular slopes towards the top of the mountain, but the skiing here is arguably just as good; the tree lined runs are perfect for days with less than favourable weather. The Courchevel Le Praz ski lifts are also ideally located, which is something of a luxury in a place the size of the Trois Vallées; these newly installed fast speed chairlifts provide doorstep access to different parts of the slopes.
Courchevel really look after their terrain and have attempted to cater for everyone with fun areas for kids, a supervised snow park and even an avalanche camp. Despite the 600km of pistes and over 170 lifts of the wider Trois Vallées area, many find themselves satisfied with what Courchevel alone has to offer. However you decide to enjoy your holiday at Courchevel 1300 Le Praz, do it all with quality equipment at the best possible price when you hire with SkiDiscount.
