Cheap ski hire Les Menuires
Les Menuires inhabits what is probably the best position in the Trois Vallées, perhaps the whole French Alps. The resort is essentially divided into three tiers: Reberty, La Croisette and Preyerand, with accommodation at each level. Improvements to Les Menuires mean the original monolithic buildings of the 60’s and 70’s that cluster at the main lift base are now surrounded by attractive chalet style stone and wood properties typical of the French Alps. Some of the original buildings have even been demolished to make way for this more aesthetic look. The resort is very conveniently arranged for skiing – a great deal of the accommodation is ski-in, and much of it ski-out, and if you stay in the central area nothing is more than a short stroll away. Though the après ski here is more laid back than in many other parts of the French Alps, bars like Le Challenge and Le Chouette are still good options for a lively post-ski drink, and a couple of nightclub ensure that the party keeps on in to the night for those that pursue it.
Les Menuires puts a heavy focus on keeping the resort family friendly and entertaining for youngsters of all ages. Nursery facilities are available in Le Piou Piou and ski school lessons start as young as two-and-a-half, but if you’re looking to face the slopes together then a 6 day family lift pass for 2 adults and 2 children will save you around 20%. Away from the exciting Alpine slopes, kids can enjoy activities like the toboggan run, indoor fun park, leisure pool complex, and even snow castle building.
Arguably the main reason to choose Les Menuires as your temporary home in the French Alps is the snow-sure guarantee this confident resort offers: if 80% or more of the pistes are closed, you're offered money back on your accommodation and lift pass. That said, conditions here are pretty reliable, with pistes topping out at 2850m and a comprehensive snowmaking system. The resort’s nursery areas are excellent, with five free moving carpets free, whilst intermediates will love the easy access to the rest of the Trois Vallées and its 600km of pistes, most of which is ideal intermediate terrain. Experts should head for the upper slopes of La Masse, which are virtually all of stiff red or easy black steepness, and offer great fast cruises when groomed, of almost 660m vertical, with some of the best snow in the Trois Vallées.
