Cheap ski hire Morzine
One of Europe’s first true ski resorts, Morzine owes its chalet type buildings and beautiful small town ambience to the architecture of 1920’s Alpine France. Though now much bigger than it was back then, Morzine is serviced by a good network of buses and lifts. Nearby Avoriaz, 800m above Morzine, sits in sharp contrast to Morzine with its boldly modern design, but for authenticity and a true tradition of skiing, Morzine is your resort. That’s not to say the après ski is in any way muted though; the local beer is beloved as much for its alcohol content as it is for its taste. Early evenings can be spent at the popular local haunt of Robinsons, before heading to the Dixie Bar for sports or the Coyote Bar for bar games. For those seeking a more relaxed pace, the Coup de Coeur is an excellent wine bar with a sunny terrace, and the Tibetan Café provides a chic eastern inspired drinking hole until around 2am. The size of the Portes de Soleil means that you’ll never go hungry for eateries on the mountain, but within Morzine itself there are also a huge number of excellent options. For high class haute cuisine try La Ferme de la Fruitière or the celebrated Chalet Philibert, while L’Etale and Mammas both offer wholesome food at very decent prices.
The Portes de Soleil region vies for the title of largest ski area in Europe, with 212 interconnected lifts servicing a mind-boggling 650 km of runs sprawling across 12 areas, 8 in France and 4 in Switzerland. Aside from all the numbers, we can tell you that Morzine is an excellent place to learn to ski, which wide nursery slopes and a good choice of ski schools. Intermediates will be spoiled for choice here, with hundreds of kilometres of varying terrain and exciting slopes, while the more advanced among Morzine’s visitors can enjoy the good selection of steep black runs, as well as around 215km of cross-country trails. For snowboarders, the Portes de Soleil will take you from start to finish- the Morzine snowboarding school is an energy filled British establishment, and when you graduate on from there then the local snowpark is enough to challenge lower level intermediates. A short trip will take you to Les Gets or Avoriaz, where the snowboarding parks are second to none.
However you decide to explore the slopes of Morzine, SkiDiscount can save you money on your equipment. Don’t wait, book now to ensure its waiting for you when you arrive.
